BIO

A San Diego native born on July 21st 1941, Rollin Stirman found himself in Miami at the age of 14 by way of N. Philadelphia. This shifting of climates and spaces played an integral role in his development as an artist and an individual. Once settled in his new home town, he recognized it as paradise. He was studying Chemistry and Mathematics at The University of Miami when he discovered his natural ability as an artist. Predominantly a draftsman and a painter, he honed his craft under the careful direction of Professors Eugene Massin and Bill Ward. Influenced by the skill, fervor, elegance and humanity of artists like Renoir, Picasso, da Vinci, Michelangelo and Rembrant he offset his unique style with a narrative voice that harkens R. Crumb. His color palate is saturated with the lush hues of the sub-tropical metropolitan city that he calls home. His subject matter ranges from formal to provocative and documents his exploits with the brushwork of an impressionist.
